PROFILE

Demonstration School for deaf (Demodeaf) is a public basic special school which was established over fifty years ago by Andrew Foster an African American for the education of deaf children in its catchment area. The medium of instruction is Ghanaian Sign Language (GSL), but sometimes oralism is employed for the benefit of the post lingual. 

 

The school currently has a population of Five Hundred and Sixty (560) pupils. Fourteen (14) of the pupils are Deafblind. The school is residential thus all the students live on the school premises.

The staff population is one hundred and eleven, made up of Fifty nine (59) Teachers and Fifty two (52) non-teaching staff.

We seek to become an institution that is built on discipline and one that is able to provide a learning environment that nurtures the hearing impaired and the Deafblind in a globalized world as they enter the mainstream society and grow to live meaningfully and responsibly within their respective communities.

Our Mission:

Is to bring students to a learning environment that is characterized by academic excellence, integrity, honesty, discipline and commitment which will make them productive members of the society.
